Top 5 Reasons to Train as a Baby Massage Instructor

Hi there! My name is Lucy and I’m so happy you have made it to this page as I expect you’re thinking about training to teach Baby Massage and Baby Yoga Classes!

My Top Five Reasons to Train as a Baby Massage Instructor

I really want to fuel that spark of desire and ignite it in to a reality for you, as it will be hands down the best decision you ever make for you and your family!

I could never have known back in 2011 how fantastically making that decision would serve my life.

So first for a tiny bit of back story. In my late teens and early twenties I worked for TV in London. I tried to carry on after the birth of my first child but it was harsh, dropping her off at nursery at 8am and being the last parent to pick her up at 6pm, both of us exhausted and seemingly only hours away from having to repeat the whole debacle a couple of hours later.

I had the same desire back then to run my own show and opened up a shop that was so much fun and so much better for us both, but then along came baby #2 and a move out of London to the seaside.

I tried to go back to being ‘employed’ but it was again demoralising and soul destroying. At a Work Course, I met a lady who taught Baby Massage and it was a lightbulb moment for me. Before I had got home that day I had visions of my business, felt so excited and energised and just knew that I was going to do it. Within a couple of days I had signed up immediately with Blossom and Berry to train in Baby Massage and Baby Yoga!

The rest of course is history and there are SO many reasons to train, but here are my Top Five:

1. Say good bye and good riddance to the 9-5 !

Yes it sounds so cliche but it is true, you can kiss it goodbye and embrace:

  • Choose your own days and hours to work.

  • Work around your family commitments.

  • Drop off and pick your children up from school.

  • Add on more classes to your schedule in term time.

  • Pauses classes or ease off during holidays.

  • Carry on earning money even when you have paused your class schedule as parents are buying your next available courses.

2. Earn a decent income doing something completely lovely!

Imagine earning money from teaching love and connection!

  • Teaching these classes is Joyful. The rewards for your soul and wellbeing are priceless.

  • Bask in the love of your community. Parents are so grateful and hold such a loving place in their heart for you for the joy you have bought them in those early days.

  • Such is the happiness they feel towards your classes that word of mouth spreads quickly as they want their friends to have the same lovely experience.

  • Earning money from spreading such love and joy feels like a very beautiful transaction.

3. shine with your creativity

There is nothing more rewarding than growing your own business. I often feel like I’m going to explode with all my ideas to keep expanding and evolving.

  • Tap in to your creativity and have fun growing your brand.

  • With all the easy tools at your fingertips, your creativity will know no bounds!

  • The possibilities to grow and expand your business with Social Media and all the platforms are endless.

  • Everything you create is your own and the rewards of that are huge.

4. teach in person and/or online classes

The traditional ‘in person’ classes translate perfectly online as I discovered over lockdown!

  • Teach ‘In Person’ at your Home, Venues, Nurseries and Early Years Settings.

  • Teach Live Group or 1-1 Classes Online on platforms like Zoom.

  • Earn Income from Pre-Recorded Video Tutorials.

  • Earn Income from offering an Online Course on teaching platforms.

5. expansion

The Baby Business is Booming. The opportunities to expand are limitless.

  • Why stop at Baby Massage and Baby Yoga. The Courses on offer that you can ‘Add On’ to your business are endless. Think Messy Play, Sensory Classes, Baby Reflexology, Toddler Yoga, Antenatal & Post Natal Classes, Tummy Time Classes, Story Massage for Older Children….to name but a few.

  • Team up with like minded instructors and grow a well established hub for parents.

  • Brand well and you can sell Baby and Child related products.

  • The world is your OYSTER with this!

I really hope you have enjoyed reading this and that it has fuelled your desire to train even more! Please check out the wonderful Blossom and Berry who I trained with and do leave a comment here to let me know how you get on. Good luck and do get in touch with any queries. Love Lucy x

How does Baby Yoga help?

If your baby or child is feeling fractious, disorganised, unsettled, these magic swings and divine drops will help them to feel more settled and balanced. Most babies really enjoy the sensation of swinging as they crave the constant movement they were used to in the womb. The swings and the drops are fantastic for developing both the vestibular and proprioceptive systems and for their overall co-ordination.

Precautions

♡  Please consider waiting for your babies 6 week check before practicing Baby Yoga.

♡  If you have any concerns about your baby please clear with your GP before trying Baby Yoga.

Before you start

♡  Please make sure you have waited around 45 minutes after your babies last feed to practice these moves.

♡ Find a comfortable space on the floor, turn off the TV, your phone and feel free from any distractions.

♡  Feel confident that your baby is happy, well and ready to participate.

Practicing the movements

♡ Stand with a straight back and slightly bent knees. Bring baby across your chest to hold them upright and central to start with.

♡  Magic Swings: Secure baby with your arm across their chest and your other arm threads up between babies legs with your forefingers holding the front of their diaper and your thumb holding the back. Start with small movements at first, keeping them close to you with small swings. See how your baby is with this and if you feel confident, start to swing out further. If your baby has ‘jittery’ arms, this may be a sign that they are not enjoying the movement. If they are kicking their legs and/or squealing this is a sign they are enjoying themselves!

♡ Divine Drops: Make sure that your back is straight and you have slightly bent knees when you attempt to drop them between your legs. Make sure that you feel confident you are holding your baby securely. The drop needs to be fast and short lived. Down and back up, just like that - and lots of kisses and cuddles and praise after.

As you can hear on the video my toddler asks for me to do this again and again and again! I can always cheer him up with some swinging and drops, he will never turn it down if I ask him if he wants to do some ‘Yoga swings’!

I really hope this helps. Please let me know if you have had any success. Good luck!

Baby Yoga Stretch after a long car journey

Car seats are inevitable! A part of modern parenting. If babies are in them for a long time, their hips can get quite stiff as the blood flow to the hips is compromised. Their back doesn’t get to stretch out. It’s also potentially quite bad for their digestion as they don’t have the opportunity to move any air bubbles through the intestines and can get quite congested.

Doing this sequence for five minutes after getting baby out of their car seat will get the blood flowing to the joints, help the lower back to have a good stretch and get the intestines flowing again.

Baby Yoga for settling and sleep

Baby Yoga movements are based on Hatha Yoga which is about balancing opposites and opening and then closing the body which babies and children take a lot of comfort from. As you can see in the short video, my toddler totally relaxes into the movements and you can tell he has a lovely sense of wellbeing and happiness ♡
